Back in ActionFloating while preganant

Pregnancy Float Experience.

The thought of being able to lie on my back comfortably and safely at 38 weeks pregnant seemed to be a dream too far. But then I booked a float at Bristol Float Centre and realised that it could indeed be a reality ...

The first time I saw the Pod I thought it looked like something from a sci-fi movie! But I had the whole process explained to me and before I knew it, I was in the Pod floating away ... Thankfully there was a bar to help me get into the Pod as being heavily pregnant and not feeling the most stable could have proved interesting! Once I was in and lying on my back using the neckrest, the feeling of weightlessness is immediate and amazing and being surrounded by warm water is incredibly relaxing.

Initially there is some wave sounds played to start the relaxation process and then after a while this fades out and you are left completely with just your thoughts. My baby initially responded by having quite a wiggle but quite soon into the float, it really relaxed with me and it gave me an incredible feeling of almost knowing what the baby was experiencing in me.

The feeling afterwards is certainly one of deep relaxation, but also a sense of being revitalised and refreshed like you’ve just had a re-energising sleep. Once out of the Pod you have another shower and the ladies loos are well equipped with hairdryers and straighteners, and there is an area to have a comfortable seat and a glass of water so you can continue your 'me' time.

As with any form of relaxation it is one of those things that the more you practice the more easily you'll be able to get yourself into that relaxed state. I highly recommend a float to have an hour of really connecting with your baby.
