The reason we sell such a broad range of options is that we believe that there is no one-size-fits-all solution. Our selection of office chairs covers a range of body shapes and sizes as well as working styles and lifestyle factors.
The best way that we can help you find the right option is to speak to one of our experts. As a company we have over 35 years of experience in office chairs and helping people get moving and we are happy to share that knowledge.
Our experts are available in store | On the phone | or via our Contact us form to help you to figure out the best option for you.
If you have been in an office based job, you will likely have heard of a ‘display screen assessment’ or DSE for short. If you have struggled with uncomfortable seats it is also likely you will have looked up ergonomic chair recommendations. This may have brought you recommendations such as:
- Good lumbar support
- Flat seat with a waterfall edge
- Arm rests that meet the elbows
- Neck rest to support reclining
Whilst there is some good advice out there. All of these standards can lead to people trying the same type of office chair again and again and finding their discomfort continues.
At Back in Action we work a little differently, we will work with you to find the right fit for your life, your work, and most importantly your body. The only advice that we would give to almost everybody is to try to get more movement into your day, which is why all of our office chairs have some level of movement in them.
Movement can make a difference in every part of your working day
1. Better Attention. One of the biggest impacts of movement is the ability to focus for longer. Our bodies want to move, even just fidget to stop a pressure point. If you are in furniture that gets out of your bodies way so that it can do what it does best, you are much less likely to start staring into space after 5 minutes.
2. More Energy. This may sound a little counter intuitive but haven't you ever noticed your energy and motivation increase with even a short 5 minute walk around the block?
3. Healthier body. The more you can incorporate movement into your life and routine, the easier it will be for you to move your body. (For those who need a little extra help moving we would recommend checking out The Mobiliser)
A desk around 70-75cm is the most common desk height.
We find that for most people, this desk height is well suited to the 90' leg angle situation, but what we are looking for is to try and get your knees lower than your hips.
By getting your knees lower than your hips, you open up that angle and allow your pelvis to tilt forward which allows your upper body to balance and stack as if you were standing up.
Kneeling chairs are the perfect go to in this situation! Plus they make for an elegant and less office-y look when you're working from home.
The proof comes in the trying. We have a lage variety to try in store so that you can feel the difference that it makes.
Kneeling ChairsThe Actulum is another that needs to be felt to be belived.
A chair designed as a kneeling chair without knee pads, that allows you freedom to seamlessly switch between forward active work and relaxed back taking a rest. The Actulum is not just a fantastically comfortable and beautifully designed chair, it can be extremely multifunctional. From use as a dining chair, a relaxing chair to watch tv from, an office chair and even a nursing chair. This is a chair for life.
Varier ActulumThe Creed works similarly to the Actulum but has all round adjustability for those who are at a different height desk or using multiple screens.
It has an amazing range of motion to help keep you moving and can be adjusted throuought the day to make sure you dont get stuck in one spot. Most importantly, it is flexible for all different heights of desk. If you want to future proof your office situation, this is an amazing chair to choose.
