What is an Ergonomic Chair?
Ergonomics are all Around Us:
From that potato peeler that fits perfectly into the palm of your hand, to the rocket ship launch seat protecting the astronaut from the effects of g-force, ergonomics are everywhere.
Good Ergonomics are so important and affect the way we interact with the world around us constantly.
Bad ergonomics or products that haven't been thought out well can have a negative impact on our wellbeing, health and enjoyment of life.

What's our philosophy on a great Ergonomic Office Chair?
That's an easy one to answer - movement. For us even the very best ergonomic chair is instantly un-ergonomic if it does not have enough movement and enough forwards tilt. Without those two factors combined with excellent design, your body cannot move - and movement is everything.
It's essential to maintain healthy bones, joints, energy levels, aid concentration, boost your immune system and maintain endorphin levels - we are built to MOVE and we become rapidly unhealthy if we don't. All the greatest ergonomic designs are designed to generate, aid and promote more movement throughout your working day. Some chairs do this very gently, such that you barely even notice it happening, and others introduce movement in a big way - maximising your fitness and long term health while sitting.
Whats our philosophy on a great Ergonomic Home Working Chair?
It's all the same principles as we mentioned above, but movement is even more important because at home, there is far less reason to get up and move around.
How to find a great Ergonomic office chair?
Well we have spent years testing, trialling, filtering, poking, jumping on, sitting on and laying on thousands and thousands of the worlds chairs, beds, recliners and office furniture. What we have discovered are some truly innovative, stunning and life-enhancing products.
Notice we didn't mention the word 'support'?
That's because the idea of needing to support your spine is a red herring and often makes back problems and spinal health worse. There are many incredible chairs that offer movement AND support, which is the most incredible combination. Its the movement and forwards tilt though that we find make the single biggest difference to wellbeing, health, comfort and productivity.
We can’t say it enough, movement is everything. We haven’t yet found a back problem that isn’t improved by it (except a few during the early recovery stages) and your body struggles to function without it.HAG Futu
The Varier Variable Balans - The original, the most ergonomic and the best. Designed by legendary ergonomic designer Peter Opsvik. We believe that Thatsit is the ultimate kneeling chair. It allows the most movement and offers the greatest support. The chair has adjustable leg supports and can be adapted perfectly to the user, regardless of height.
It has an optional back support for those using a chair for long periods of time. Thatsit is ideal for people who have to sit for long periods of time either at home or work. Perfect for all kinds of work at a table. One of our staff has used this chair for over ten years and wouldn't give it up!Varier Thatsit
This allows users to control the chairs forward and backward tilt by the movements of their upper body. Controlling the chair is intuitive and fluid. The chair has a "Mercedes" like feel and a very long warranty... Superb in our view!
Designed by legendary ergonomic designer Peter Opsvik it is the ONLY chair we know of that doesn't just offer all the ergonomics you would expect - but also allows left to right rotation of the shoulders. This is something we haven't found in any other chair (only a feature on model HAG Creed 6005 - High back partially upholstered).HAG Creed
An office chair doesn't have to look like an office chair. This is possibly the best chair we've ever sat in, and the one many BIA staff use around our dining tables and in front of our computers.
The Actulum is an elegant Home Office or Table Chair that can reduce sitting fatigue, improve posture, increase activity levels and reduce neck and back pain.
It is also well suited to study and hobbies. The rocking movement is exceptional at maintaining alertness and develops core muscles while you sit. Actulums make great dining chairs (particularly with our dining tables), allowing long enjoyable dinner parties and conversation well into the night. Design: Peter Opsvik.
One of the best things about the fluid mechanism on the Logic 200/220 ergonomic office chair range is the minimal movement of the front of the seat when leaning backward - Your feet remain in contact with the floor, minimising pressure on the underside of your thigh.RH Logic 200 & 220
The Hag Capisco Puls, 8010 and 8020 models are among the most unusual ergonomic office chairs out there. This is an all-time favourite for many of our team.
In our own offices and showrooms, this (or its fully upholstered sibling the Capisco 8106) is the most commonly chosen chair.
The Wing is an unconventional working chair with its height adjustment, swivel and tilt functions, and castors for hard or soft floors.
The height adjustability makes it ideal at any work space even if your desk or table is higher than standard table heights.
The Varier Wing promotes active sitting and keeps you breathing deeply, giving your energy levels and concentration an invaluable boost.
